The Dynamo is a 12VDC brushless motor and integrated controller manufactured by Nidec Motor Corporation.
- Description
-
The Dynamo is a 12VDC brushless motor and integrated controller manufactured by Nidec Motor Corporation. This low powered motor with integrated controller is a new alternative to the brushed motors used within the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). The Dynamo is an excellent way for FRC teams to learn about brushless motor technology as they power turrets, small lifts or arms, and conveyor systems. Brushless motors have been used for years in non-FIRST applications, for more information on the difference between brushed and brushless visit this informative link.
Nidec has manufactured this motor to have an 8 mm output shaft allowing it to be used in some applications where you would normally use a CIM motor.
Directions and examples for how to wire and program the Dynamo can be seen on the WPILIB website.
NOTE: As of 2026 these motors are NOT legal for use in any FIRST programs.
